Information
Whilst most parents recognise the need for correctly fitting shoes in their childs early years, few realise that their child remains vulnerable to ill fitting shoes right up to the age of 18.
Many children suffer foot problems by their early teens, which are often associated with ill fitting shoes.
If parents are vigilant throughout their childs foot growing years, the vast majority of foot problems would never happen.
NIKI-LU'S DOES NOT SELL CHILDREN'S SHOES ONLINE BECAUSE:
- Children's feet are constantly growing
- Children's feet are too precious to wear ill fitting shoes
- Each brand and style vary in fit
- We offer a personal service, which is impossible through online sales
- It is a learning experience for the child
Why does my child need correctly fitting shoes?
It takes approximately 18 years for a child's foot to develop:
6 Months
At birth the foot contains 22 partially developed bones.
A foot that contains mainly cartilage can be deformed by an ill-fitting sock or all-in-one suit.
2 Years
By 2 years the bone structure is developing but there are still large gaps between bones. By school age your child will have 45 partially developed bones.
8 Years
By now the smaller bones in the foot can be seen. They will take a further 10 years to fuse together.
Ill-fitting shoes can affect this process.
18 Years
Bones are now fully developed and hardened with only small gaps between them.
We at NIKI-LU'S believe that your child's foot growth and development is of paramount importance. We aim to treat every child with individual care and attention. This is to ensure that they are measured correctly , and are fitted with the best possible style of footwear.
Children need growing room, stability and protection which can only be achieved by seeing a trained shoe fitter, and the shoe fitter seeing the child.
